Graphic Design
In my design I am trying to meld together all of my life experience. I am a fan of the likes of Milton Glaser and push pin studios. I am trying to revive the art of silk screening in my basement. I want design to retain some semblance of the hand craft that it once was. So what we have here ladies and gentlemen is a conundrum. I originally started out my school career, (yes I said career it has taken me over 10 years), as an illustrator. When I ran screaming from the halls of Kendall College of Art and Design with a terrible case of what the hell am I doing /overload of character based criticism, I knew this field was not for me. Essentially I freaked out long enough to bum around, move to Santa Barbara and hang out with some hippies. Ultimately I concluded that I was going nowhere fast. My head left the clouds long enough to sling beers, wear suspenders and graduate with a BFA. My major of choice was of course oil painting as I was very much through with the constraints of Illustration. After graduation, I decided that I needed to spend some time listening to beautiful music in New Orleans, recieved a VW bus as a gift and spent the summer swearing at the worst/best thing I have ever owned. Ever the one to plunge headfirst into reckless abandon I decided I wanted to help out the sick and weary and I ended up in the Nursing Program at the local community college. My grandfather passed away {thank you grandpa for all that you did for me,someday I promise to make you proud} and I realized that dealing with death has never been my strong point. Now I spend my days slaving away behind a shiny Mac with the hope that someday my x-acto related thumb injury will be a good story to tell at all those swanky cocktail parties I will be relentlessly invited to- not working at.
